Culture Place: Marketing and Audience Development Tools for Outdoor Cultural Activities

Project Description

Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) has a large audience base, estimated at over 750,000 individuals, and  it also has had 10,000 plus participants. At the same time EEA has no ticket sales, and therefore is unable to capture the details of its audience. With this problem in mind Zafeirenia Brokalaki’s residency at EEA looked into developing way to collect details of participants and to design tools for future information collection. It was hoped that her time with the company could impact their understand of their audiences and increase revenues.

Brokalaki’s research was split into three sections, the EEA Friends Scheme, Hindsight Impact Assessment and EEA’s Marketing to PR and Events Companies. Looking into EEA’s 33 year history Brokalaki produced proposals and articles relevant to each area, assisted in launching the Friends Scheme, developed a database of existing and potential clients and help develop marketing material.

Daniel Bernstein from EEA commented that Brokalaki helped “develop a new approach to funding and understanding of EEA’s position as a charity”. For Brokalaki the project assisted in understanding “better how to define, shape and explore research questions and how to apply methodologies in real frameworks” and how to “explore human behaviours in real settings”.
