Project Name

TCCE: Unlocking the Potential For New Narratives and Possibilities in the Field of Knowledge Exchange

Project Description

For over ten years The Culture Capital Exchange has been creating and curating a wide range of inspiring events which have brought together researchers and cultural and creative sectors. Their future-facing research has helped develop the concept of Knowledge Exchange, and annual activities such as: The Inside Out Festival, Rules of Engagement series and the Research, Creativity and Business conference, demonstrate this work.

Partnering with Dr Peter Mitchell from Queen Mary University London The Culture Capital Exchange hoped to conduct research into their archive of events and activities in order to develop deeper understandings which can be used to create more productive relationships between research and creative communities. To this end Dr Mitchell has compiled a 10,000 word research report which assesses The Culture Capital Exchanges role within urban and national creative ecologies and looks at the changing political landscape in Higher Education institutions and within the arts.

Dr Mitchell also ran a series of workshops for The Culture Capital Exchange in order to encourage reflection and critical thought, and was invited to speak at The Culture Capital Exchange’s annual conference.

Since the residency Dr Mitchell was employed by The Culture Capital Exchange as an associate for six months in order to realise two co-authored publications. Additionally The Culture Capital Exchange has launched a new initiative entitled The Exchange which has extended the number of Higher Education Institutions they are working with across the UK.
